St. Louis-area high schools win girls, boys basketball state championships

St. Louis had six champions out of the 12 trophies up for grabs between the boys and girls this past week.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Several St. Louis area high schools represented the city well at the Missouri State High School Basketball Championships.

St. Louis had six champions out of the 12 trophies up for grabs between the boys and girls this past week.

Here are the local champions: 

Life for Life Academy

The girls at Life For Life Academy brought home the Class 4 championship with a 75-57 win over Central Park Hills. Amaya Manual had a team-high 19 points in the victory.

It was the program's second state championship, the team also won in 2021. 

John Burroughs School

John Burroughs took down Lutheran St. Charles 57-41 for the Class 5 Championship. Gonzaga-bound Allie Turner recorded 24 points to close out her high school career in the win.

Incarnate Word Academy

Incarnate Word Academy won its seventh straight state title with a win over Kickapoo 53-43 in the Class 6 Final. It was an emotional win as the team was without head coach Dan Rolfes after he suffered a medical emergency.

De Smet Jesuit High School

The Class 5 Championship was brought home by De Smet Jesuit after its win over Jefferson City. De Smet hit 11 three-pointers in its 75-56 win. 

It was the school's first boy's basketball title since 1999.

Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School

Cardinal Ritter beat Chaminade College Preparatory 52-42 in the Class 6 Final. Cardinal Ritter won both the football and basketball state titles this school year.

Vashon High School

Vashon beat John Burroughs 68-37 in the Class 5 Final. Vashon claimed their fifth straight state title after a win over John Burroughs 68-37. Coach Tony Irons won his seventh state title in his career.
