ILLINOIS, USA — With an infectious zeal for the game, 17-year-old Gabby Orlet, a star player for the Althoff Crusaders, has faced challenges that no teenager should ever endure.
"I wake up every day and think about it. Every little pain makes me nervous," Orlet said, shedding light on a journey that has transformed her into a symbol of resilience.
In 2021, Orlet received a call that would change her life forever.
"I got a call that I can't breathe," she said.
Initially dismissed as a fracture, the devastating reality unfolded three days later when an ambulance rushed her to the hospital, revealing a cancerous tumor on her spine the size of a tennis ball.
"It was devastating," her father, Jimmy, said.
