Here are Illinois, Missouri's most popular Super Bowl snacks

ST. LOUIS — Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner and it's the biggest day of the year for sports and snack foods. 

Football fans and snack enthusiasts alike will sit in front of the television on Feb. 11 to watch the San Francisco 49ers face the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

If you are looking for a snack to bring for the party or want to try something new, a recent report of America's most popular Super Bowl snacks can help.

Using Google Search trends, Online Casinos.com analyzed the most in-demand Super Bowl foods in the U.S. this year.

The top snacks across the U.S. are: 

  1. Buffalo chicken dip (8)
  2. Pretzel dip (7) 
  3. Spinach artichoke dip (5)
  4. Jalapeño poppers (3)
  5. Pigs in a blanket (3)
  6. 7-layer dip (3)

According to the report, 26 states prioritize dips the most for the event, with buffalo chicken dip taking the top spot. Pretzel dip wasn't far behind as it ranks second most searched-for food. 

Among appetizers, pigs in a blanket were the most searched in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana according to the report. Jalapeño poppers took the top spot in Idaho, Michigan and Utah.

Here are the top Super Bowl in Illinois and Missouri: 

  • Illinois - Pigs in a blanket
  • Missouri - Lil smokies

Some states had interesting choices for their most popular Super Bowl snacks including pancakes for Wyoming and Crawfish étouffé for Louisiana. Desserts were also popular with chocolate-covered strawberries in West Virginia and banana bread in Alaska and Rhode Island.
