St. Louis CITY SC defeats Houston Dynamo 2-1 in 1st Concacaf Champions Cup match

CITY SC will first play its home opener on Saturday against Real Salt Lake before traveling to Houston for the second match on Feb. 27 at Shell Energy Stadium.

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis CITY SC made its Concacaf Champions Cup Tuesday night at CityPark ahead of its home opener for its second MLS season.

St. Louis faced the Houston Dynamo in Round One in the first match of the home-and-home series. St. Louis made the first goal of the match, with Houston later leveling the score 1-1. 

In his CITY SC debut, Hosei Kijima scored the winning goal in the 90th minute to make it 2-1.

CITY SC will first play its home opener on Saturday against Real Salt Lake before traveling to Houston for the second match on Feb. 27 at Shell Energy Stadium. 

CITY SC clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last season, earning them a berth in the Champions Cup. 

St. Louis went unbeaten against Houston in the 2023 MLS regular season. CITY SC beat the Dynamo 3-0 at CityPark and then drew 1-1 at Shell Energy Stadium.
