Lanes of NB 270 near I-55 were closed after a hazmat spill.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A hazardous material spill Tuesday afternoon could have impacts on the evening rush.

MoDOT said the spill happened at around 2 p.m. on northbound Interstate 270 right where the on-ramps from both directions of Interstate 55 meet 270 in St. Louis County.

Two lanes of northbound 270 where drivers coming from 55 enter the highway were closed. To help drivers merge onto 270, MoDOT has limited the ramps from both directions of I-55 to eastbound 270 down to one lane each.

The MoDOT traveler map said the cleanup and closures were expected to last until after 6:30.
