Flying this holiday season? Here are some tips for stress-free plane travel

These expert tips will keep you from missing your flight.

ST. LOUIS — You may think the traditional concept of getting to the airport two hours before your flight is outdated thinking, but experts say it's still true.

According to Roger Lotz, a spokesperson from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the two-hours-early guideline is still valid - with one caveat: Two hours before your flight, you should be "in the airport, not just in the parking lot."

Before arriving, use your airline's mobile app to see if your flight has been delayed or canceled. You can always delete the app after the flight if you don't travel much, Lotz said.

The MyTSA app can also come in handy. It shares approximately how long the security lines are going to take you to get through in 15-minute increments.

If you're flying out of Lambert and plan to leave your car behind, you can save time driving around in circles searching for a lot by visiting FLYSTL.com. The website allows you to check daily rates and see how full each lot is.
