Money missing from Brentwood High School PTO bank account

The letter told former students that the organization's bank account was in the negative, which included money for scholarships that several children were awarded this year.

ST. LOUIS — The Brentwood High School Parent Teacher Organization said thousands of dollars are missing from its bank account.

The organization made the discovery late last week and filed a police report. A letter was also sent a letter to alumni telling them about the incident.

The letter told former students that the organization's bank account was in the negative, which included money for scholarships that several children were awarded this year.

The letter did not go into specifics about how the money was lost, nor did it say how much was taken from the bank account.

The letter said it's trying to raise $1,500 by Thursday to allow the organization to give cash to the scholarships winners before the end of the school year. It told alumni all funds donated would be given back to the students and will be used to help pay back any debts it has accumulated.

5 On Your Side reached out to Brentwood police. They say a criminal investigation is ongoing. They wouldn't go into more details about the case.
