These Missouri, Illinois restaurants rank in Yelp's 'Top 100 Barbecue Spots'

The review website named three St. Louis area restaurants to the list, one of them even making the Top 15.

ST. LOUIS — Yelp has released its 2024 list for the "Top 100 Barbecue Spots" and a few Missouri and Illinois restaurants made the list.

The review website named three St. Louis area restaurants to the list, one of them even making the Top 15. The list was created based on several factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews, Yelp said.

Here's who made the list and where they ranked:

  • No. 13 - Bogart's Smokehouse in St. Louis
  • No. 27 - Beast Craft BBQ in Belleville, Illinois
  • No. 28 - Pappy's Smokehouse in St. Louis

Bogart's Smokehouse, located at 1627 S. 9th St., opened in 2011. Their menu features smoked tri-tip sirloin, pastrami, apricot glazed ribs and more.

"I go to Bogart's for the best-tasting ribs in the world. Their ribs feature a slightly sweet glaze with a hint of apricot -- so delicious I skip the sauce," a Yelp review said in part.

Beast Craft BBQ is the only restaurant from the Metro East to be included on the list. David Sandusky opened the BBQ restaurant, located at 20 S Belt W, in late 2014. His mission is to help "bring local BBQ traditions to the forefront, and reestablish the St. Louis area as a BBQ destination," its website said.

"Awesome BBQ!!!! The melt -in -your-mouth pork steak is big enough to share, the pulled pork is so tender. And we love the Brussels sprouts. Highly recommend," a Yelp review said.

Pappy's Smokehouse opened in the Midtown neighborhood in 2008. It is "known for their nationally acclaimed dry-rubbed ribs," its website said. Their menu features pulled pork, smoky beef brisket, burnt ends and more.

"We came to Pappy's during a STL visit because it its reputation as one of the great ribs places in the US. It didn't disappoint! The ribs were among the best I've ever had," a Yelp review from April 2024 said.
