Frank’s Food Picks | If he wasn’t Italian, he’d be Greek and here’s why

Frank Cusumano stopped by The Greek Kitchen in Kirkwood.

KIRKWOOD, Mo. - When I got married 31 years ago, I told my wife Monique who is half Greek, that if I wasn’t Italian, I would like to be Greek. I would like to say it was because the incredible culture, but it was basically because of the food.

One of the best things to eat is a really well done Saganaki. That fried cheese with a little lemon is good living.

So Monique and I dined there a few week ago and fell in love. They had all the classic dishes: stuffed grape leaves, Pastitsio, Spanakoptia, and the lemon soup which was incredible.

Then we had the special that night. It was love at first bite. Lamb Sliders. Oh goodness. Melted on top is this feta cheese spread loaded with all these Greek spices. It’s one of the better things I have tasted in our series.

Before you leave, try to the Baklava cheese cake. Lisa Nicholas is a tremendous chef and her future husband, Joe Kandel, is very talented also.

The Greek Kitchen is a good way to enjoy great food.

You can find The Greek Kitchen at 343 S. Kirkwood Road
