ST. LOUIS — The executive chef of local favorite Sugarfire Smokehouse has a new title: 2018 World Sandwich Champion.
Chef David Molina took home the crown and a giant check worth $10,000 for his classic sandwich mash-up, the Cuban Rueben. The sandwich features smoked ham, pulled pork, pastrami, mustard and swiss cheese with sourdough grilled cheese sandwiches for the top and bottom buns.
The win comes with something else, a spot at the final table of the World Food Championship where $100,000 will be on the line.
