ELDON, Mo. – The Miller County community is mourning the loss of one of their deputies.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Casey Shoemate, was traveling southbound on Route Y with emergency lights and sirens activated. He tried to pass another vehicle that was southbound and struck a northbound vehicle head-on.
The accident occurred around 5:50 p.m. Friday.
A Florissant man was transported to a hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
Shoemate was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 26 years old and worked for the Miller County Sheriff’s Office.
