1 shot, killed Sunday in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A 26-year-old woman was killed in an overnight shooting in north St. Louis. 

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a call for a shooting around 2:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of Thomas Avenue in St. Louis' Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.

Officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

She was identified by police as 26-year-old Brittany Richie of St. Louis.

Police said the suspect, 28-year-old Marissa Lewis, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. As of Monday, she was being held without bond.

St. Louis police's Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.
