ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman is facing a felony charge after police said she crashed her SUV into another car Wednesday during a pursuit on the Chain of Rocks bridge.

St. Louis County prosecutors on Thursday charged Briana Smith of Riverview with one felony count of resisting arrest by fleeing.

According to court documents, an officer with the St. Louis County Police Department was in the area of eastbound I-270 and Lilac Avenue at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday when she recognized a silver Chevrolet SUV at a gas station that was involved in a homicide investigation from the day prior.

The officer tried to pull the SUV over but the driver sped off, police said. A police pursuit ensued on I-270 until the SUV crashed into another vehicle on the Illinois side of the Chain of Rocks Bridge.

Smith was arrested at the scene. Neither she nor the two occupants of the other vehicle suffered any obvious injuries, police said.

Smith's bond was set at $150,000.

Eastbound I-270 was closed for a time Wednesday evening while police processed the scene. It has since reopened.
