ST. LOUIS — A Washington University study has linked heartburn drugs to fatal heart and kidney diseases, and stomach cancer.
Researchers said the risk increases the longer the drugs are used, even at low doses.
The drugs in question are known as “proton pump inhibitors.”
They’re sold under a variety of brand names including Prevacid, Prilosec and Nexium.
