Huge tree pulls up steps, smashes car after falling in Benton Park

As it fell, the tree pulled up some freshly set concrete steps and damaged a wrought-iron fence. It also blocked the street.

ST. LOUIS — Several residents in the Benton Park neighborhood woke up to a loud sound early Wednesday morning.

A large tree crashed on top of a car and into the street. It happened at about 1:08 a.m. in the 2200 block of Sidney. Luckily, no one was hurt.

As it fell, the tree pulled up some freshly set concrete steps and damaged a wrought-iron fence. It also blocked the street.

It also landed right on top of a car that was parked on the street. The tree was so large the car was barely visible. The vehicle’s owner happens to be an insurance agent, he told 5 On Your Side. He said the car is covered, and while he’s not thrilled with the situation, he’ll deal with it.
