ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis woman is the second person to be struck and killed within two days along the same stretch of Interstate 270 in St. Louis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 7:30 Sunday evening on I-270 east of Lewis and Clark Boulevard. Dominique Williams, 38, was walking south across the eastbound lanes.

A man driving a Honda Accord tried to swerve to avoid her but struck her with the front left side of his car.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

On Friday, about five miles west of where Williams was killed, another pedestrian was also hit and killed.

MSHP said a car was traveling eastbound on I-270 near New Florissant Road when it struck a man in the roadway.

Christopher Brandel, 29, of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
