ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A K9 officer with the St. Louis County Police Department is retiring.

The department announced K9 Ben’s retirement on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Ben served with the department for more than five years as an explosives detection K9. The department said Ben participated in major security sweeps and has helped keep the region safe.

“Thank you, Ben!” The department wrote.
