This Schnucks location in the Metro East is undergoing a total-store remodel

Renovations include new decor; upgrades in the deli, bakery and seafood service areas; and electronic shelf tags.

CAHOKIA, Ill. — Big changes are underway starting this week at a Schnucks grocery store located in the Metro East.

The 44,000-square-foot Schnucks grocery store location at 1615 Camp Jackson Road in Cahokia, Illinois, will see updates to nearly every section of the store, according to a Tuesday release from Schnuck Markets.

Once the renovation is complete, customers can expect to see new flooring, shelving, decor, paint, registers, additional self-checkouts and energy-efficient lighting as well as updates to deli, bakery and seafood service areas and upgraded refrigeration cases in the produce, dairy and beer departments.

“Schnucks is committed to the Cahokia area and to serving all of our shoppers’ grocery needs,” Store Manager Brian Lomelino said in a statement Tuesday. “Our teammates are excited and anxious to bring our customers a like-new store and improved shopping experience once the renovations are
complete.”

The Cahokia store, which currently employs 62 people, will also be one of the first Schnucks locations to have electronic shelf tags, which, according to Grocery Dive, provide more flexibility with markdowns and free the store from traditional ad cycles.

The remodel work is expected to be completed this fall, according to the release.

The St. Louis-based grocery chain currently operates 115 stores across Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and employs 12,000 people, according to Schnuck Markets.
