ALTON, Ill. — A middle school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a former student while the student was in high school is facing new allegations.
Alton police said William C. Ingersoll was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault back in May in connection with the alleged relationship from 1998 to 2000.
Now, the Alton Police Department said at least two other people came forward with similar accusations after the announcement of the charges.
Because of this, police are asking other potential victims to call their detectives at 618-463-3505 extension 634 to file a report with the police department.
“As I said before, no trusted adult should take advantage of their position to cultivate a sexual relationship, especially with a child," Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons said in a press release. "My detectives are the best around, and I want anyone with an experience with this man, or anyone else, to know it is safe to tell their story to us.”
