CRESTWOOD, Mo. — Panera Bread, the bakery-café chain known locally as Saint Louis Bread Co., will open a new location Friday at 9591 Watson Road as part of the new Dierbergs Markets-anchored redevelopment of the former Crestwood Plaza shopping mall.

The 2,400-square-foot restaurant will feature a mobile drive-thru, kiosks for ordering dine-in and rapid pick-up, as well as mobile pick-up and delivery options, officials said in a release.

The company said it will hire 35 workers to fully staff the location, which is its first in Crestwood and its 68th in Missouri.

Dierbergs Markets in March opened a 70,000-square-foot location on the site of the former Crestwood Court shopping mall. The new grocery store anchors the company’s $67 million retail development, dubbed Crestwood Crossing.

Among the chain’s other moves locally, Panera last month opened a store in growing St. Charles County last month and in October opened a store in University City.
