Charges: gun left in dresser by father led to Glasgow Village 2-year-old's death

According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis County Police Department, Uziel left a loaded gun in the top drawer of a dresser

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A father has been charged with child endangerment in the shooting death of his 2-year-old child in Glasgow Village on Wednesday.

Police have charged 34-year-old Uziel Israel with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis County Police Department, Uziel left a loaded gun in the top drawer of a dresser that 2-year-old Zion Israel could access.

Zion was shot in the head on the 200 block of Tay Road at around 3:45 p.m. Police originally responded to the home for a reported electrocution, but discovered Zion was shot when they arrived.

Uziel was taken into custody on Nov. 25.
