1 teen dead, 2 injured after car crashes into pole Saturday in Sappington

The deadly crash occurred at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Gravois Road and Cinnabar Drive.

SAPPINGTON, Mo. — One teen died and two others were injured early Saturday morning in Sappington after their car crashed into a utility pole.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, a Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on Gravois Road at a high speed. 

Police said there were six people in the car when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Gravois Road and Cinnabar Drive.

A teenage male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Two other passengers were transported to a local hospital. One suffered life-threatening injuries. The other suffered minor injuries and was later released.

On Sunday, St. Louis County police identified the teenage passenger who died as 17-year-old Quintyn Lewis of St. Louis.

The driver and two other passengers were uninjured in the crash.
