Indiana man dead after shooting at hotel in downtown St. Louis

The man was found with gunshot wounds to his chest in a stairwell at America's Best Value Inn.

ST. LOUIS — A man died at a St. Louis hospital Sunday morning after a shooting. 

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. at America's Best Value Inn, located at 1100 Lumiere Place Blvd. in downtown St. Louis.

Police said they found 27-year-old Kevin Anderson of Indianapolis lying in a stairwell with gunshot wounds to his chest. EMS took him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation revealed the shooting was a result of a possible confrontation between Anderson and the suspect, who was not identified.

Cure Violence is an international organization that is present in a handful of St. Louis neighborhoods. Violence interrupters are trained to deescalate violent situations within their own communities.
