St. Louis forecast: Wet weather returns for Tuesday

Chilly temperatures Tuesday with the clouds and rain, dry the rest of the week

Clouds will thicken overnight ahead of the next weather system that brings rain by early Tuesday morning to much of the area. The heaviest rain is expected to fall across parts of central into southeast Missouri where more than an inch of rain is forecast. Rainfall amounts will drop as you head toward the Mississippi River and St. Louis and continue to drop off into central Illinois where. By Wednesday, the system will be exiting the area, bringing the return of dry weather to end the week. Temperatures will stay near or below average. Highs in the 80s are expected through the end of the week.
